Rentokil Initial Supports UPLIFT’s 1MillionDevices Initiative with 40 Refurbished Laptops
In a meaningful step toward narrowing Malaysia’s digital divide, Rentokil Initial (M) Sdn Bhd has donated 40 refurbished laptops to UPLIFT’s 1MillionDevices initiative, reaffirming the vital role corporate partners play in expanding access to education and digital opportunity.
The official handover ceremony saw Ms Carol Lam, Managing Director for Malaysia, Brunei and the Philippines, present the laptops to Mr Aria Singham, Managing Director of BAC Education Group. The contribution will directly benefit individuals and communities who lack access to essential digital tools, empowering them to learn, upskill and participate more fully in today’s digital economy.
Also present from Rentokil Initial were Irene Ooi, Marketing Director for Malaysia, Brunei and the Philippines; Mior Ikmal, Content Visual Designer; Rajeswaran Rajasegaran, IT Executive; and Fareez Helmy, IT Executive - reflecting a strong cross-functional commitment to corporate social responsibility.
Representing BAC Education and UPLIFT were Kumar Nagalingam, Nirmitha Govindaraju, Ainul Khalidah Idura, and Mithila Narendran who play an active role in driving the NGO's community-focussed initiatives.
Speaking at the handover, Aria Singham underscored the broader impact of the contribution and the importance of sustained collaboration between the corporate sector and civil society.
“Access to technology is no longer a privilege- it is a necessity. This generous contribution from Rentokil Initial goes beyond devices; it opens doors to education, employability and dignity. Partnerships between forward-looking corporates and NGOs like UPLIFT are essential if we are to build a more inclusive, resilient and future-ready Malaysia. Together, we can ensure that no one is left behind in the digital age,” he said.
The donated laptops will soon be distributed to deserving recipients through UPLIFT’s 1MillionDevices initiative, with Rentokil Initial kept informed of the real-world impact made possible by their support.
As Malaysia continues its journey toward digital transformation, initiatives such as these demonstrate how collective action can translate goodwill into lasting change— bridging the digital divide, one device at a time.
