Opening Doors to Education for Orang Asli Children in Pulau Carey
On 10th January 2026, UPLIFT in partnership with BAC Education brought smiles and hope to 50 children from the Orang Asli community at Kg. Orang Asli Sungai Bumbum, Carey Island, Kuala Langat, Selangor by providing essential stationery items. This initiative was designed to support their learning journey and align with Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education), ensuring that every child has the tools to succeed in school.
Each child received a thoughtfully prepared set of supplies, including exercise books, foolscap paper, colour pencils, highlighters, correction tapes, geometry sets, a stationery kit, and even a lunch box with water bottle and school bag. More than just materials, these resources empower children to engage fully with their studies, build confidence, and embrace new opportunities in learning.
Initiatives like this demonstrate the powerful role that community support and generosity can play in breaking down barriers to education, particularly for children from underprivileged backgrounds.
By providing these children with the essential tools they need to learn, a better foundation for a brighter future is laid, instilling hope, ambition, and confidence that can ripple through their families and communities.
For the Orang Asli community, access to resources such as stationery, school supplies, and learning materials can make a profound difference. It not only allows children to participate more fully in their education but also supports families who may face financial and social challenges, helping to reduce educational inequalities and create opportunities that might otherwise be out of reach.
By meeting even basic educational needs, UPLIFT and its generous donors are empowering children and strengthening entire communities, fostering curiosity, resilience, and a love for learning.
