100 Animals Receive Food After Cyclone Ditwah

As Sri Lanka continues to battle the aftermath of Cyclone Ditwah, the humanitarian crisis extends beyond human suffering. In flooded districts across the country, animals (both wild and domestic) have been left stranded, starving, and unable to fend for themselves as rising waters destroyed habitats, submerged homes, and cut off feeding grounds.

In response, Uplift's partners in Sri Lanka stepped forward to provide food for 100 affected animals, ensuring that vulnerable pets and displaced wildlife received urgently needed nourishment. This was made possible through donations mobilised by Uplift (Pertubuhan Bangkit), GiveBACk.my, BAC Education, and the Malaysian Ceylonese Congress (MCC), supported by the High Commission of Sri Lanka in Malaysia.

This animal relief effort forms part of a wider Malaysian humanitarian response, which has included hot meals, school supplies, clothing, rescue boats, and relief packs for families affected by Cyclone Ditwah.
