Mobility is something most of us rarely think about. But for many persons with disabilities in Malaysia, especially those from B40 families, it is a daily struggle. Without a proper wheelchair, simple things like going to school, working, or even leaving the house can become difficult – sometimes impossible.
For those from B40 families, a wheelchair is not always affordable. Some make do with broken or unsafe ones. Others rely entirely on family members just to move from one place to another. Over time, this doesn’t just limit movement – it limits independence, access to education and work, and even a person’s sense of dignity.
UPLIFT, together with the Society for the Well-Being of Malaysian Citizens and Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat (JKM), is working to change this. We aim to provide 350 wheelchairs to individuals in need across 10 states, at RM240 per unit.
