Four Days, Seven Cities, 1850 Meals Served

In response to Sri Lanka’s appeal for international aid, Uplift (Pertubuhan Bangkit), together with GiveBACk.my, BAC Education, and the Malaysian Ceylonese Congress (MCC), launched an emergency community service fundraiser to deliver rapid, on-the-ground relief. The initiative was supported by the High Commission of Sri Lanka in Malaysia, reflecting a strong bilateral commitment to humanitarian cooperation.

Over four days, the team coordinated hot meal distributions across several of the hardest-hit districts - reaching 1,850 displaced individuals who have been struggling with food insecurity since the cyclone struck.

December 3rd, 2025:
The first phase of relief began in Ja-Ela, where 300 displaced people received a freshly prepared hot lunch. For many, it was their first proper meal after days of uncertainty, displacement, and dwindling resources.

December 4th, 2025:
The following evening, volunteers travelled to Kelaniya to serve hot dinners to 300 people, many of whom had lost their homes, belongings, or access to essential supplies.

December 5th, 2025:
As floodwaters continued to disrupt daily life, the relief team moved to Athurugiriya and provided 250 individuals with a warm dinner.

December 6th, 2025:
The final day of this initial relief wave reached two separate communities. In Chilaw, 400 people were served hot meals for dinner, while in Navatkuli, 20 families received meals, ensuring that vulnerable households were not left behind.
